December 10, 2013

Ornament Craft4-borderRemember that classic song from the old clay-mation Rudolph Christmas movie? It goes like this: “Silver and Gold, Silver and Gold, means so much more when I see / Silver and Gold decorations on every Christmas tree…”

Well, these days, there are dozens of color combinations you can choose from to decorate your Christmas tree. But we thought we’d bring back some of that classic Christmas sparkle with this silver and gold ornament craft!

  • Plastic Ornament
  • Silver Glitter
  • Gold Paint
  • Gold Sharpie
  • Spray Adhesive
  • Glue
  • Sm. Funnel
  • Paintbrush

Total project cost: $5

Ornament Craft2-borderPaint your child’s hand or foot with gold acrylic paint, and carefully place on the ornament. Carefully wiggle each finger or toe down to insure a good print. Allow to dry. (Tip: You may want to go back and add more gold paint later to enhance the print and make it easier to see.) Add their name and year on the ornament with gold Sharpie.

Next, lightly spray your spray adhesive into the ornament and add the silver glitter into the top, using the funnel. Put your finger over the top and shake so the glitter lightly coats the inside of the ornament.

Glue on the top of the ornament, making sure to fill any gaps with glue so that, once dry, no stray pieces of glitter can escape! Allow to dry and then add it to your lovely Christmas tree decorations!
